Meet Attorney Jinwoo Shin
Mr. Shin believes that everyone deserves a trusted, responsive, professional lawyer with empathy. Mr. Shin is one such attorney. He worked at preeminent law firms in San Diego and La Jolla, California, which handled high-profile family law cases and civil litigations, and in 2017, he established his law firm in Columbus, Ohio, where he supported his wife’s teaching career in higher education. Since 2021, Mr. Shin has dedicated his firm to the practice of immigration law.
Mr. Shin first prepared himself to be a minister rather than a lawyer, studying at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York, one of the leading seminaries in the country. However, his passion for law and justice led him to study media, religion, culture, and society at New York University and later, law. Mr. Shin’s experience in church ministry helped him understand the importance of law that serves the needs of all American families, children, and senior citizens.
Serving people as if they were his family is one of Mr. Shin’s important moral principles. He willingly gave his time and talents to the Domestic Violence Clinic in San Diego County during his law school days. As a legal intern and later as a volunteer attorney, he helped clinic participants and self-represented litigants prepare their declarations and related documents for domestic violence and civil harassment restraining orders.
In the summer of 2016, Mr. Shin and his family decided to settle down in the Columbus area. He soon found Central Ohio to be a good place to raise a family. In his personal time, Mr. Shin enjoys spending the most time with his family in nature. He loves traveling, reading, watching movies, and practicing martial arts as a lifelong kendo player.
